Mild steel portable CO2 cylinders tend to corrode over time causing the C02 gas to leak and is one of the leading causes of failure of CO2 extinguisher during operation. Due to unavailability of pressure gauge on the CO2 extinguisher, detection of leakage becomes difficult.
IS 2190 - Indian Standard for maintenance of CO2 Extinguishers has been drafted to overcome this limitation and have clearly stated under section 11.3(e) - maintenance clause – C02 extinguishers to be inspected every quarter for weight compliance.
Being pioneers in fire fighting industry, we take immense pride in introducing “CHARGE INDICATOR” for detecting any leakages of CO2 Gas from the CO2 Extinguisher. The CHARGE INDICATOR detects any decrease in the extinguisher's weight due to leakage of CO2 gas over a period of time and gives a clear indication to any passer-by for immediate action. Under normal conditions, it indicates “FULL”- in Green Colour and “EMPTY” in Red colour for easy identification of leakage
The CHARGE INDICATOR has an inbuilt calibration option to accommodate various makes of CO2 extinguishers thereby making it a universal product. The CHARGE INDICATOR can be installed within 15 minutes by any skilled labourer simply following the instructions provided in the leaflet. As a standard feature, it comes with a removable bar to avoid contact of CO2 extinguisher with the wall thereby maintaining aesthetics of the surroundings. This also eliminates the standard process of placing the CO2 extinguisher on the ground which acts a safety hazard.
